About

Welcome to the legacy website for our brother, Timothy Evan Davies,  (1946-2022), known as El Timbo, an artist who lived in Y Bermo (Barmouth), Gwynedd for around 20 years.

When El Timbo died, he left behind a lifetime of work as a poet, lyricist, musician, photographic artist and critical writer. Much of this work was featured in an earlier website that was no longer fit-for-purpose. Other works have since come to light.

So we decided, as a tribute to El Timbo, to commission a new website (designed by Gosh at Byte IT Computers of Sheffield), as a permanent space for as much of El Timbo’s work as we could find, and somewhere to exchange his ideas and influences. El Timbo insisted his work be freely available, protected by a Creative Commons License. The same applies to this new site, and we trust you will respect the terms of this license (follow the CC link).

Some of this work was published independently by El Timbo, much of it was semi-private, unpublished, provisional, even quite raw. But in all cases we hope you will find it stimulating. Over his 76 years he spanned Welsh and English cultures, and lived in many locations in Wales and England – flats, communes, caravans, tents – even a Leyland Tiger Cub bus. His home space always centered around his work, and his lifestyle just fitted in as it could around that.

El Timbo thought very deeply: about his own life, about those around him and about a changing and challenging world. His works reflect all of these concerns.
